Types of banjo: BLUEGRASS 5-STRING: the classic American bluegrass banjo, with deep resonator the one-piece flange, and the distinctive "Flathead tone ring". These give a superb rich sound and punch .OLD TIME 5-string: the open back banjo has endured in popularity for over 130 years and is used for a variety of styles. Using a "Whyte Laydie" tone ring, our models benefit from improved modern components to create the best sounding open back – sweet, loud and perfectly balanced. TENORS for Irish or jazz, etc. Originals in construction and decoration created by Sully – contending to be the tenors ever made. PLECTRUM Long neck version of the above, for jazz players or chord melody soloists. BANJO-MANDOLIN – a mandolin neck on an open back banjo body – great for Irish and other folk music. |

"A most unusual and beautiful banjo" Tony McCabe, Irish entertainer, Texas, USA, 2003 " The banjo arrived today, it looks great! What a pretty instrument." Ken Case: bouzouki, octave mandolin & Irish tenor banjo workshops, Michigan, USA, 2003 The banjo arrived safely today at 7.30 am. It looks great and it sounds really awesome, I've never heard a more beautiful banjo. Very soft and mellow but it still has the sharp banjo twang. The tuning pegs are exellent. It's a little had to use them because they're so accurate, maybe I'll get used to it. Rantanen Markus; Finland 2004 |

Sully’s Banjos. From The Living Tradition magazine number 34, October 1999

Mike Harding,
the BBC TV and Radio artist chose one of Sully's "Session King" banjos. It was an open back, short neck, Irish tuned tenor with a flathead tone ring."There's no nonsense about Sully's Banjos. They sound great, look great and my playing has improved 100% since I got mine. I spend hours playing it - it's a real joy."
Mike Harding is the presenter of the prestigious BBC 2 radio programme "Folk on Two"
Magazine review:
"The Session King open back... surprising volume (although without a resonator), easy fingering and a full tone. A banjo without particular decoration but with a super tone, the ideal banjo for those who do not care for gorgeous inlays, engravings and wood carvings."
'The line of Sully's Banjos is topped by the new Bohee banjos; they make him join the small club of top banjo manufacturers: selected heavy maple, top tone rings, ebony fingerboard inlayed with mother of pearl and abalone. The Paragon model . . .a dream banjo - the tone is loud, dominant, but round. . ' Hans-Werner Grunewald, Banjo Podium, No. 36, Spring 1993, Germany
'Craftsmanship and design skills of the highest order ... aesthetically pleasing, beautifully finished, top of the range fittings ... the care and attention to detail lavished on these instruments really makes them world class...' Paul Mitchell-Davidson, Musician magazine (journal of the Musicians' Union), June 1997, London
