Banjo
vellums from Halshaw Music When ordering, at least
2" should be allowed over and above the diameter of the vellum wire for
lapping. The depth & thickness of the tension hoop affects this
measurement. Thus, a standard 11" banjo could be fitted with a 13" vellum; but if it has a deep tension hoop then
a 13" might be very difficult to fit - so use a 14". A 12"
banjo may need a 15" to allow easy fitting. SEE LINKS FOR PICTURES. POST: £4 for vellums under £36 in value; £6 for vellums over £36 in value. |

|
Please note that as vellums are natural animal skins they cannot be completely uniform as a piece of paper or plastic: they will feature hair follicles, some areas of transparency, and their thickness will vary slightly. Transparency does not affect the quality. We obtain these skins from a long standing and reputable vellums works, and believe them to be excellent for banjo use. |
